Lighting in Byron Bay & the Northern Rivers
Gardens that work after dark. Low, warm lighting that picks out a feature tree, a wall or a path, so the space is still worth looking at from inside the house on a winter evening.

A courtyard after dark
The brick courtyard on the Bangalow estate is a different room after sunset. The fountain is lit from below, the stone arch catches a wash, and everything else drops away. Same paving, same planting, and it does more work in the evening than it does at midday.
How we work
Most of the year in the Northern Rivers you are outside after sunset, and for the months you are not, the garden is something you look at through a window. Both cases are lighting problems. We light the things worth seeing and leave the rest dark, because a garden lit evenly is a car park.
Warm colour temperature, low mounting heights, and fittings chosen to weather rather than to stay shiny. Near the beach that means marine grade or solid brass, and it means accepting that brass will go dark and that this is the point.
